VIDEO DEMO:

WHAT IS A ' MODIFIER ' ?

  • Modifiers are options that can be added to a product with additional cost or not.

  • Unlike variants their availability cannot be tracked so they are better used as options like: cooking instructions (for a meat or fish), Milk preferences (for a coffee), Allergies, …

There are 3 ways to display Modifiers in your POS:

Click on your Product:

1. REQUIRED

For modifiers that NEED to be added to a product, a modal will pop-up as soon as the Product is clicked

a. You can see that the ' Milk Options ' is required because of the red dot & ' Next ' is greyed out & unclickable.

b. ' Select 1 ' means that you need to select 1 milk to add the Product to your cart

Now that our Milk is selected: we can ' Add to Cart ' or add extra optional options:

' Sugar Add Ons ' & ' Takeaway Options '

2. GROUPED

For Modifiers that are often needed but not for every orders,

a ' Dot ' will display on top of the group to indicate all the Sugar Options are Grouped

for example: ' Sugar Options '

3. UNGROUPED / ON DISPLAY

For Modifiers you use all the time & need to access fast

for example: ' Takeaway, Keep Cup, No Lid, ... '

If a Product contain:

Required Modifiers & Grouped / Ungrouped Modifiers,

they will all display in the Modal:

the Icon: ' ⚠️ ' indicates that ' Milk Options ' is required & not added yet

If no Required Modifiers are applied:

Grouped / Ungrouped Modifiers

will display underneath the Products:

What those options look like applied on a product in the Office:

CREATE AN ' OPTION GROUP '

  • OPTION GROUPS are Modifier Groups you can reuse easily on several products.

  1. Office ⇒ Products ⇒ Options ⇒ Option Groups

Create ‘ Options Groups ‘ where you can categorise your modifiers and apply them to one or several products.

(Modifiers can’t be ‘required’ or ‘grouped’ if they don’t belong to an Option Group)

  1. Create an Option Group Name that will make sense to reuse on your products.

Ex ‘Black Coffee options’ can be reused for all black coffees.

⚠️ Be careful if you have an Online Store as the names will be reflected there as well as mandatory/ required modifiers:

2. Add a maximum selection:

It can be the amount of modifiers you have (in our case: 3) so all options can be added.

Or:

limited to max 1, for example: cooking options, milks options on coffees…

limited to max 3, for example: select up to 3x flavours for your smoothies.

  1. If your modifiers are already created you can add them directly with:

‘Add Option’ ⇒ search name ⇒ ‘ + ‘ (to add) ⇒ add a price if needed (or subtract price, for example: if a guest bring a keep-cup, they could get -$0.50 off) ⇒ Save

ADD A ' MAX. SELECTION PER OPTION ' :
